Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365-page book. Write a good one!
The first few days of 2021 have already flown by, but it is good to reflect as we start the New Year that we have choices in where our paths will go.
Many people start a New Year by setting new resolutions, but if you are like me, by now they have been forgotten, so perhaps this is not the way to go. As the 2021 path takes shape it is bound to have twists and turns and not follow the route we thought it might. Thing will go wrong, but this is okay as it is through mistakes that we learn and improve.
As Henry Ford said:
“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”
Life will be full of challenges but the greatest one is simply to start again and learn from your mistakes.
With that in mind I thought I would set 7 short challenges.
Challenge 1 – Recite the alphabet backwards. How quickly can you do it?
Challenge 2 – Without lifting you pen (pencil) from the paper, draw the most ambitious animal you can. Can you improve it?
Challenge 3 – Balance on one leg for the longest time. Can you last as long as a flamingo? (4 hours apparently!)
Challenge 4 – Toss a coin: try and get as many heads as possible in a row. Does tossing tails make any difference?
Challenge 5 – Design a new Mr Man or Little Miss character. What personality will it have?
Challenge 6 – Spell your name using finger spelling. Does practise make it easier?
Check out the British Sign Language website to help you.
Challenge 7 – Create your own challenge. What will you choose?
Remember, it does not matter if you do not get the challenges correct straight away – it’s how we learn.
So go for it – now is the time to write your own book!
