“The best way to predict your future is to create it.” – Abraham Lincoln (16th President of the United States)

This year's theme for National Apprenticeship Week is 'Build the Future'.

What a great time to start building for the future! The scientists are successfully using all their skills to find a solution to the virus, the roll out of the vaccine in the UK is just amazing and we can begin to look towards schools opening and a good summer.

If these last few months have taught us anything, it’s that through adversity comes hope and the ability to change and adapt. These are just the skills that employers are looking for. Think of all the skills you have gained over the last few months and the creativity and resilience you have shown.

As well as National Apprenticeship Week, SBY have launched their first Insight Into Apprenticeships Newsletter. This will be a regular newsletter that will not only update you on the programme but provide information about the world of apprenticeships.

With this week being National Apprenticeship week, there is also a wealth of information to help support you when considering your future.

City of Bristol College are hosting a webinar for students focused on ‘Information on Apprenticeships’ from the National Apprenticeship Service – this is taking place on Wednesday 10 February, 3:00-3:30pm. More information can be found here.

The following sites are also great sources of information:

  • The government website – everything you need to know about becoming an apprentice

  •  Youth Employment UK – an organisation that supports young people in all areas of employment and training

  • Amazing Apprenticeships – everything you need to know about apprenticeships with some great videos of apprentices telling you their stories

  •  Career Pilot – expert careers information and tools for 11–19-year-olds, all in one place

Why not start to build your future – it is in your hands!
