“Volunteers are love in motion!” – Author Unknown
Volunteers’ Week is a time to say thanks for the contributions millions of people make across the UK through volunteering.
Over lockdown and the pandemic, volunteers have stepped up and helped, from food banks to vaccination centres, and from checking on neighbours to delivering medicine, volunteers throughout the country have really helped to get the country through these difficult times.
Even now, as we start as a nation to come out of restrictions and lockdowns, volunteers are still out there helping get youth groups back together and organising days out for the elderly or vulnerable; these among many other things makes this country so great. So, if you are lucky to encounter a volunteer make sure you give them a special thank you during this week.

Perhaps also take time to ask the volunteer why they do it and what they get from volunteering? You might start to realise that volunteering yourself is a really good way of helping others, of developing your own employability skills and wellbeing…and it’s a great thing to put on your CV too!
Finally, check out the Volunteers’ Week website; they have loads of ideas on how to say thank you and how you can also become a volunteer.
