A programme to support young people’s personal development and wellbeing.

We are excited to be working with a small group of students at two of our South Bristol schools.

The programme is designed to provide young people with the skills and experiences they need to make an informed choice about their future. It also aims to support their mental health and wellbeing, with a focus on developing a positive outlook and recognising future possibilities that will support them in developing and realising their long-term goals.

The programme uses a relationship-based approach, using an activity to strengthen the relationship between all to develop new skills and create the potential for dialogue and creating a sense of belonging.

At the heart of the programme are the young people – as such there is a strong focus on student voice. This allows us to listen to students’ preferences and get them involved in the planning and design of activities. The Aspire programme is being run by members of the South Bristol Youth Team who have extensive combined experience in both teaching and youth work.

The programme takes place weekly with a mixture of the young people working together on group projects, and one-to-one mentoring sessions with the project lead. A key element of the programme is supporting the young people as they make choices in their life and building their resilience.
