WELCOME TO SOUTH BRISTOL YOUTH
EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE TO SUCCEED
STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE
CAMILLA CHANDLER
Hello everybody, South Bristol Youth and Somerset Youth are alive and well having continued to work with thousands of young people throughout the pandemic.
The last 18 months have given us the opportunity to review everything we do and to develop lots of new and engaging activities for our young people to experience this year. We are excited to be able to offer many of the programmes we have run previously, and we will also be introducing additional methods of staying in touch with our young people and their families, which I hope will mean we will be able to work together in an even more meaningful and diverse way. Despite the global pandemic we were still able to interact with our young people in so many different ways, including face-to-face, online activities and workshops, blogging, social media, and sending postal activity packs. In total:
- we delivered 161 face-to-face activities
- 2002 students received 47 different physical packs of at home activities and resources
- we presented 30 online workshops
- we sent 2,048 students and families a range of digital resources
I would like to say a huge thank you to our young people and their families, our local businesses and partner organisations, and the South Bristol Youth staff, for the support they have shown us over the past year and for their ongoing support as we move forward. In the past few months we have been able to renew former partnerships and develop new ones; this will enable us to offer different experiences for our young people and to continue to work collaboratively across the South West.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Trustees and to welcome our new Chair of Trustees, Karl Tucker. I am confident that Karl will bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role, and will support the charity to grow and develop.

South Bristol Youth’s value is so much greater than the sum of its parts. They really do provide opportunities that are not available through school.
School staff
I feel really confident and passionate, I have controlled my stage fright and I don’t stutter as much as I used to. I like speaking up now. This programme has helped me out a lot.

I’m really confident and don’t get worried anymore. South Bristol Youth have helped me with my confidence and taken me out of my comfort zone. Thanks!
I have enjoyed being a part of this programme. I have gained more confidence and I am able to control my nerves when speaking in groups and class discussions… Being a part of this programme has helped me bring way more confidence when speaking and listening. Thank you for choosing me, it has made a great difference to me, friends and family.
